Old etched tureen
A grand old tureen that has so much charm and character.
A true collectors piece, it was made by James Dixon and Sons in the 19th Century and is Sheffield silver plate.
Tureens have been used for centuries and were always the centrepiece of a family’s table used to serve soup, stews, chowder and broth.
This piece has a lovely etched trailing ribbon pattern around its body and lovely solid handles. The surface of the tureen is quite tarnished and worn and has a moody silver-blackish patina.
It is a wonderful decorative piece and would look stunning as a table centre piece filled with fresh blooms.
