A lovely stoneware ink pot. 

This little piece has some unique marks which tell the story of its age. The lovely caramel colour would add a touch of warmth to a shelf or nook. 

Inkpots were originally used for dispensing small quantities of ink into school desk receptacles when ink became commonly available in liquid form in the late 18th to early 19th centuries. 

They are perfect used to hold a sprig or two of dried foliage.
