A truly striking antique Italian wedding chest, beautifully hand carved and wonderfully heavy and solid. Traditionally used to hold a bride’s dowry, these chests were often given as part of a marriage and would have held linens, clothing and other household belongings as a young couple began their life together.
This beautiful old chest has aged wood with all the marks, wear and imperfections that come with its years, giving it so much character and a wonderful sense of history. An absolutely one-of-a-kind piece, it now makes a beautiful coffee table, while also offering useful storage for blankets and linen in a bedroom, or could sit beautifully in an entryway.
