France, mid 20th Century
A charming French antique pouring jug by Salins France, produced by the historic Faïencerie de Salins in Salins-les-Bains and marked on the base. With a generous 1.5-litre capacity, these practical pottery jugs were once a staple in French kitchens and commonly used for serving water, wine, milk, and other table beverages.
It has a beautifully aged milky off-white glaze; this piece has developed the character and patina that only time can create. There are a few very small chips and one fine hairline crack, which in no way impacts its general use and only adds to its authenticity and charm. A wonderful example of traditional French tableware, equally beautiful displayed on an open shelf or used at the table as intended. Please refer to all images.
Height 18cm, width from handle to spout 19cm
